The female cat needs to breastfeed after giving birth. Some careful owners will find that some female cats have a lump in the lower abdomen after breastfeeding. So why is this? There are generally two situations, let’s introduce them separately.

1. Too much milk

The female cat has too much milk. If it cannot be secreted in time, it will accumulate in the breasts and form hard blocks. In this regard, the owner can appropriately extend the weaning time of the kitten, or use a clean hot towel to give the cat a hot compress, and gently massage the female cat's breasts, which can help eliminate the lumps. However, if the cat has a serious breastfeeding condition and does not improve after treatment, it is necessary to take the cat to the pet hospital for treatment in time.

2. Mastitis

Mastitis infected with female cats can also cause lumps in breasts. In this case, kittens usually bite the female cat's breasts, or fail to help the female cat clean the breasts in time, which causes inflammation of nipple infection. In this regard, the owner needs to take the cat to the pet hospital for examination in time, and inject or take anti-inflammatory drugs. At the same time, the owner should use a warm towel to give the cat a hot compress of the breasts every day and massage it gently until the lumps of the cat's breast disappear. After the kitten has finished drinking milk, the owner also needs to use wet tissue to clean the female cat’s breasts to prevent mastitis.
