To be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame today is an honor and I am proud to join this group of luminaries and legends.
My love for football started in my back garden with my family just for fun. My dad always taught us what to do in the game but also gave us the freedom to do what we wanted to do and enjoy playing football, always with a smile on our face.
My dream was to play at the highest level; I did it, so I'm really happy. Week after week you have important games and at the end of the season you lift a trophy with your teammates; it’s beautiful.
From the first day to the last day, it was like a love story between myself and the Chelsea fans. Six years later, I’m retired and traveling the world. People come up to me and say I give them so much joy on the court and it gives me a good feeling.
I know people are paying for a ticket to see a show, so my job is to go out there for 90 minutes and show them what I can do. That's always in the back of my mind. I always try to give the fans a fun feeling and some entertainment, even the away fans 😜.
When you look back at my career and this announcement, I think I've done a good job.
We don't play alone, so this award belongs to my coaches and my teammates; you guys mean the world to me.
For a little Belgian guy from Brian Lecomte who just played football for fun to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame at the age of 34 alongside such great players is crazy.
