TA reported that Manchester United’s new goalkeeper Lamence had an unusual growth experience. He debuted as a forward.
Ramens' football career began at the forward position. His original intention of changing to goalkeeper was that he "didn't want to be substituted" and "didn't like running." In the early days of joining Brugge's youth training, his performance was not outstanding and he was almost given up after a year. But one coach recognized his uncanny talent for judging and picking off crosses and insisted he be kept on for development.
Lamens is known for his amazing work ethic. One of his former coaches recalled finding him returning to the training base alone late at night to work out in the gym. It is this extreme desire for improvement that helps him stand out in the fierce competition within the team.
Despite this, due to the presence of top goalkeepers such as Mignolet in the team, Lamence was unable to get many first-team opportunities in Bruges and later in Antwerp. This was also the main reason for his relative lack of experience when he joined Manchester United, and it once attracted doubts from the famous Schmeichel.
However, all coaches who have coached him have given high praise to his psychological quality, saying that he is "calm" and "stable" and can handle pressure calmly. One coach even gave the ultimate compliment: "Even if you throw him into the fire, he can still complete his job." In his first show on behalf of Manchester United, Lamence performed calmly and completed a clean sheet, winning applause from the fans and initially confirming the evaluation of his mentors.
