Plurichne cyst disease is a hereditary disease. When the cat was born, "small blisters" filled with liquid were formed in the two kidneys, which were very subtle. With current medical technology, it is impossible to detect and prevent the aggravation of this disease in advance. As the cat grows older, small blisters continue to grow larger and more, and then kidney function decreases and even develops into chronic renal failure. Cats carrying polycystic kidney genes are usually bound to have a disease. The average age is 7 years old, and it can be as early as 3 years old (there will definitely be insufficient kidney skills before the age of 10). About 6% of cats around the world are affected by polycystic kidney capsules.
Cats carrying polycystic kidney genes are mostly those who have polycystic kidney disease in any parent and mate with healthy cats after gene mutations; it is worth noting that not every brother or sister in a litter will not get this disease (but 75% will get it).
Note: If both parents have polycystic kidney disease, they will cause serious lesions in the uterus, causing miscarriage and stillbirth to be pregnant, and it is almost impossible for pregnant cats to grow up healthy. (Surviving for up to three months, but this phenomenon is very rare)
Since the outbreak of polycystic kidneys requires a long period of accumulation, there are not many "small blisters" in the early stage and will not significantly affect renal function, so almost no abnormalities can be detected in the early stage. However, as the condition develops, thirst, hematuria, and kidney enlargement may occur. Only obvious symptoms will occur until the kidneys cannot meet the physical needs, but at this time the lesion has reached renal failure.
In addition to the above symptoms, high blood pressure, heart murmurs, lower urinary tract diseases, kidney infection and other complications may also occur. Moreover, because the polycystic kidney will affect the kidney urine collection system, urine is prone to retention, and the chance of kidney infection will be relatively high. In addition to the symptoms of chronic renal failure, advanced stages can also cause severe pain due to rupture (or infection) of the kidney cyst.
