Former Manchester United striker Rooney expressed his views on the current situation of Liverpool and Manchester United in the program. He harshly criticized Liverpool's new signing Isaac, predicted Salah's future, and analyzed the significance of this double-red match against Manchester United coach Amorim.
What do you think of Liverpool's forward options, especially Isaac, who has yet to score in the Premier League?
Rooney: I wouldn't send Isaac on the pitch, he hasn't looked ready since he came from Newcastle. He did not participate in training or pre-season preparations. This is so important. While Newcastle are training, he could be sitting at home, spending six hours a day on the phone with his agent trying to get the transfer done. It's very difficult when you don't have pre-season. He may have done some training on his own, but he's paying the price for it. Judging from his performance, he does not deserve to play ahead of Ekitic.
Liverpool has suffered four consecutive losses in all competitions. What do you think is wrong with the team and head coach Slott?
Rooney: They are a little complacent. You might forget about Slott because he won the Premier League, but he's still quite young - 46 - and this is the first time in his career that he's lost four games in a row. He was arguing with officials on the sidelines [against Manchester United] and I've never seen him like that before. We're starting to see some situations unfold that suggest there's pressure there.
Another key player of Liverpool, Salah, is in poor form this season. What do you think of his situation and future?
Rooney: Salah has played a lot of games in the past few years and has always been the core figure of the team, shouldering that kind of pressure. He was rumored to be leaving and he later signed a new contract, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did leave the club in the summer. I really enjoyed watching him play, he's a great player, but I think he was tired. You don’t want to admit it, but fatigue does get to you and the next moment, you’re gone.
How important is this victory at Anfield to Manchester United and head coach Amorim?
Rooney: This is such a big win for the head coach. During this season and last, I questioned decisions, tactics and the desire of the players. That win meant a lot. Winning at Anfield is not easy. The confidence it gives players and coaches, I'll be the first to say his (Amorim's) tactics are absolutely correct. I hope we see more of this. Now only two points behind Liverpool. I really liked the performance in this game, we know the players are capable of it and we have to see this performance be consistent.
