In February 2021, Kasia Lenhardt, the ex-girlfriend of former Bayern and Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng, committed suicide, just six days after the former made a series of accusations against her in an interview with German media Bild.

In the upcoming three-part documentary about Boateng, the German defender talked about the matter for the first time. He said: "I lost someone I loved very much, and I also noticed that the public deprived me of the right to mourn. Only I know my inner feelings, and I am still digesting her death."

Talking about what he said in an interview with Bild before Kasia's death, Boateng also admitted that he "made a mistake in judgment afterwards and should have handled it better." The publication's former editor-in-chief, Johannes Boy, also admitted: "We will not publish that interview today."

In the 2021 interview, Boateng said: "Kasia became my girlfriend and blackmailed me by destroying my relationship with my ex-girlfriend Rebecca and my family. Therefore, I decided to stay with Kasia and try to make the relationship work. Even making our relationship public was due to Kasia's pressure, not my will."

"Throughout our relationship, Kasia frequently threatened to destroy me. She threatened to destroy my career and even tried to cost me my children. Kasia said she would do this by accusing me of assaulting her, which she knew the mother of my child had accused me of, and we had a legal battle. Kasia contacted the mother of my child and said she would help her in court, all just to destroy me." He even claimed the model used fake social media accounts to attack him.

Cassia countered that she actually ended the relationship because of Boateng's "lying and constant cheating." She called Boateng a "devil" and said: "I will definitely speak out, but I need time to wake up. Please give me time and I will fight back! Because I have never been so deceived, used and lied to. Please give me some time."
