SEMI pointed out that China's semiconductor equipment sales amounted to US$11.36 billion in the second quarter, an increase of 11% from the first quarter and a decrease of 7% from the same period last year, maintaining its global leader.
Taiwan's second-quarter semiconductor equipment sales amounted to US$8.77 billion, a quarterly increase of 24% and an annual increase of 125%, surpassing South Korea's US$5.91 billion, ranking second in the world.
North America's second-quarter semiconductor equipment sales amounted to US$2.76 billion, a quarterly decrease of 6% and an annual increase of 15%, ranking fourth in the world. Japan's sales amount was US$2.68 billion, up 23% in quarter and 67% in year-on-year, ranking fifth in the world.
SEMI said that global semiconductor equipment sales grew strongly to more than US$65 billion in the first half of this year, mainly due to the continuous investment and expansion of chip manufacturers to support advanced logical process technology and memory innovation that promotes the wave of artificial intelligence (AI), and enhances regional supply flexibility.
