When NVIDIA (Nvidia Corp.) restored supply of China's "H20" AI chips, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick pointed out that China has only achieved NVIDIA's "fourth best" AI chips, and everything is for rare earths.
Lutnik was interviewed by CNBC and Reuters on the 15th and said that NVIDIA is going to sell the "fourth best" AI chips to China, and American companies use the fastest products. "We have not sold the best products to them, and we will not sell the second and third best."
Luitnik revealed that the US government decided to let NVIDIA resell H20 to China, mainly related to the rare earth magnet agreement. He said that it is beneficial to the US to continue to rely on the complete technical stack of the United States. As long as we can continue to take the lead in technology, "they will continue to buy our chips."
NVIDIA's 15th daily news jumped 4.04%, closing at $170.70, setting a record high in history. NVIDIA's crystalline foundry partner Telco ADR achieved a 3.62% slump and closed at US$236.95, setting a record high in history. Super Micro Computer, a major AI server and storage technology manufacturer, also rose by 6.92%, and charged US$53.17.
Ultramicro (AMD) also announced on the 15th that the "MI308" AI picture processor (GPU) designed for China will soon be restored to shipment, and the US Department of Commerce is preparing to re-view the export licenses applied for by the company. AMD plans to start shipping immediately after the license is approved. AMD said in April that the company would be required to claim $800 million due to Washington's AI chip export ban. AMD's 15th news gap rose by 6.41%, closing at US$155.61, reaching a new closing high since October 29, 2024, ranking among the 30 constituent stocks in the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index.
