With the dual transformation of electric and intelligence in the automotive industry, Infineon Technologies AG, a major automotive electronics manufacturer, is playing a key role. Hans Adlkofer, senior vice president of the Flying Senior Vice President of Flying, pointed out in the media group "OktoberTech Taipei and Leading Mobile Future" that Flying is accelerating the transformation of software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) with its leading automotive semiconductor technology, shaping a new look in future travel.

Hans Adlkofer said that the automotive industry is experiencing two major trends, namely electric vehicles and software-defined vehicles (SDVs). It is expected that by 2030, about 45% of new cars will be electric cars, while the proportion of driving and automatic driving will increase from about 25% in 2024 to 60%. At the same time, smart cars with hybrid domain/regional architecture will also grow from 5% to 50%. Together, these trends depict the vision of "zero emissions", "drivers turn passengers" and "cars turn wisdom". In order to meet the increasing demand for SDV in the future, Hans Adlkofer also clearly pointed out that in the future, Yingfeiling will newly develop large central computing unit films mainly based on RISC-V architecture and will be produced in a more advanced process in the ECMS German crystal factory that cooperates with Taiwan Electric in 2028.

Therefore, with its profound technical accumulation, Yingfei Ling has been engaged in the leading position of the joint automotive semiconductor market for five years. In 2024, Influxelling accounted for 13.5% of the global automotive semiconductor market, with market share of 32.0% and 29.2% in the power semiconductor and microcontroller (MCUs), both ranking first in the world. In North America, Europe and China, Yingfeiling is also a car semiconductor dragon.

Hans Adlkofer pointed out that the three cornerstones of software definition of automobiles are "safe and guaranteed computing", "high-speed vehicle loading network" and "smart distribution". First of all, in the safe and secure computing part, the SDV architecture is developing towards layered/centralized, and the application software and hardware are decoupled. Despite the increasing popularity of high-performance MPUs/SoCs, microcontrollers (MCUs) still play an indispensable role in SDVs, especially in applications that require real-time, low-latency control. Yingfeiling's AURIX series products have built-in PPUs, providing excellent real-time data processing and edge AI capabilities, and are suitable for regional processors and support real-time operation systems such as AUTOSAR and FreeRTOS.

As for high-speed car loading network, as car data surges, Automotive Ethernet has become the key car loading communication bone, managing real-time communications inside and outside the region. Previously, Yingfei Ling successfully purchased Marvell's car ET business, greatly strengthening its system capabilities, allowing Yingfei Ling to have a leading car ET PHY, exchanger and bridge connector product combination, covering 100 Mbps to 10 With Gbps speed range, it will support 25G-T1 in the future, fully meeting the communication needs of SDV. The introduction of Ethernet is expected to increase the total bill of material (BoM) by about 50%.

Finally, in terms of smart power distribution, the SDV architecture requires "regular power supply", and the power distribution is transferred from centralized to distributed, and safety components are required to ensure that the system availability reaches failed operation capabilities of ASIL-C (ADAS) or ASIL-D (AD/line control system). Traditional security and relays will be replaced by semiconductor smart switches such as PROFETs to achieve faster fault isolation (< 500µs), configurable line protection, diagnostics and non-destructive recovery. Smart switches are more stringent for automatic driving levels of SAE L3 and above. It is expected that by 2028, the amount of smart switches per car will increase from the current 50 to about 200.

Hans Adlkofer also pointed out that future seats will provide "super personalized" experience, combining a generative user interface (GenUI) to achieve a better user experience (UX). The smart seating product combination of Yingfeiling covers a wide range of applications, from AURIX, TRAVEO T2G microcontrollers to 3D flight time measurement distance, 60 GHz radar, touch sensors, MEMS microphone and gas sensors, etc., which can realize direct human interface, noise reduction, air quality monitoring, and improve safety (such as child presence detection, driver monitoring, health monitoring, and anti-violation detection). In the future, central bus computers will integrate complete ADAS/AD and seating functions, and rear-view mirrors and other videos will also be replaced by monitors. These innovative features will become the main decision factor for consumers to buy cars.

Hans Adlkofer finally pointed out that Inflying's SDV system solution is to reduce the customer's development complexity and enable it to focus more on creating additional value-added software functions. The demand for semiconductors by SDV has increased significantly and has become an important growth driver for Influx. Taiwan's deep foundation in computer and semiconductor industries has made it a good position in SDV transformation, as future cars will be "a computer or mobile phone installed on four wheels." InFlying is committed to providing a "one-stop solution" covering sensing, computing, memory, communication and power. Through the combination of semiconductors and software, SDV is no longer just a wishful view, but real. The ultimate goal is to make cars on the road safer, more secure, and more enjoyable and safer driving experience.
